about

What the outside world said:

Musically, one can find some relationship to early XTC, Gong and a little bit of Robert Wyatt.

Wonderfully weird pop music which seems to sometimes cross over into relaxed sessions.

Slightly spaced out, but always entertaining.

Suspensfully arranged, the music is somewhere between avant-pop and experimental-rock.

What Henrico Reed says:

After being forcibly ejected from the Rotterdam based group Black Sheep in 1982, this was Leigh’s next recording project. Having been accused of being a control freak, he decided to break with his usual methodology by recording very basic tracks, then inviting other musicians to create their own parts with as little outside direction as possible. The results were very hit and miss to say the least. The album was recorded between 1982 and 1984. True to form Leigh rejected several record deal offers, claiming financial and royalty issues, before No Man’s Land (label of the German branch of Recommended Records) released it on vinyl in 1988. Track 9 was recorded as a bonus track and appeared on a No Man’s Land compilation CD shortly afterwards. Space Is The Place appears thanks to spatial guest Sun Ra.
